Indeed, it consists in repeating and verifying the empirical results obtained in previous studies concerning the existing link between the insurance sector and the financial sector. The studies that looked at the relationship between financial development or banking development and growth in the insurance sector are very minimal, but all these studies find a positive correlation of these financial variables with the insurance market mainly in Outreville (1990,1996), Carson et al., (2014) and Ward and Zurbruegg (2002). Using the ARDL model to estimate the relationship between the penetration rate and financial variables in Algeria between 1974 and 2015, it is shown that there is indeed a short and long-term relationship between certain variables that measures the level of financial development. These are the quasi-currency rate and the level of credit to the private sector. As for the relationship of insurance to economic growth, we have found an absence of a relationship that ranges from economic growth to penetration ratesItem Financial Sector Development And Economic Growth In Algeria: An Ardl Bounds Testing Approach 1980-2017(University of Eloued جامعة الوادي, 2019-07-31) FAHSI, Zineb; Chibi, AbderrahimThis study empirically examines the relationship between financial sector development and economic growth in Algeria over the period 1980–2017, using the auto-regressive distributed lag approach to co-integration analysis, depending on real gross domestic product per capita as a dependent variable, broad money and domestic credit to private sector as a measure of financial development. Our results reveal that the relationship between financial development and economic growth in Algeria is not significantly different from what has been observed generally in oil-dependent economies. The finance-growth relation in Algeria is found to be insignificantly positive. These findings suggest a dire need for financial reforms in Algeria in order to improve efficiency in the financial sector so as to stimulate investment and saving and thus, long-term economic growthItem The Role Of Human Capital And Total Factor Productivity In Promoting Economic Growth: A Comparative International Study(University of Eloued جامعة الوادي, 2019-07-31) Ahmed Almosabbeh, ImadeddinThe aim of this study is to test the existence of a positive relationship between the human capital and economic growth in a group of countries. The study has employed ARDL method on data for the period 1950-2014. The results show that there is a long-term relationship between human capital and economic growth in South Korea, South Africa, the United States, France and Germany, while there was no significant correlation in Japan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. As for the effect of the total factor productivity, it was found that their effect is significant in all countries except Egypt. The study suggests the continued accumulation of human capital and that the output of education be directly involved in the production process.Item Oil Resources And Institutional Quality Impact On The Development Process: Cases Of Kuwait And Venezuela(University of Eloued جامعة الوادي, 2019-07-31) Hamza, Ali; Benayad, Mohamed Samir; Redif, MostaphaThe Analysis of natural resources impact on economic growth and development is due to the beginning in specialization of many economies in the production of energy resources such as oil, gas and minerals. Empirical studies have not yet reached a common conclusion about this relationship. 40% of them found that natural resources have a negative impact on economic growth, 20% have a positive effect, and 40% have no significant results. In this study, we try to re-examine this relationship in Kuwait and Venezuela for the period 1990-2014, using the VECM model that explains the impact of oil resources and the institutional quality on the HDI in the long term. The results indicate that the government effectiveness index has a positive impact on the human development index in both Kuwait and Venezuela during the study period. This is justified by the fact that natural resources served an important aspect of development issues in the sample countries with varying percentagesItem Oil Price Shocks And Algerian Economy : Evidence From The ‘new Economic Model’(University of Eloued جامعة الوادي, 2019-07-31) Seddiki, Safia; Kiheli, Aicha SelmaThis study aims at investigating the existence of a clear relationship between 2014 oil shock and the orientation of Algeria towards implementing more sustainable development programs. To explore this relationship, four sustainable development indicators were used, namely: gross domestic product, CO2 emissions, energy depletion, and unemployment as dependent variables. In addition to crude oil prices as independent variable. We employ an autoregressive distributor lag (ARDL) approach to test both long and short run relationship between the study variables during the period of 1987 to 2017. The results of the study reveal the existence of an interaction between all variables. These findings can be interpreted as tangible efforts of Algerian government to integrate sustainable development programs to break total dependency to oil revenues.
