Abstract
The current study aimed to reveal the strategies used by laryngectomists to cope with psychological stress, and to
identify the possibility of its difference (coping strategies) depending on the age group and the type of laryngeal
resection. The study was conducted on a sample of 30 people who underwent total and partial laryngectomy, and the
coping strategies scale of "Lazarus and Folkman"was used after confirming its suitability for the purpose of data
collection. After statistical treatment, it was found that laryngectomists use problem-centered, emotion-centered, and
social bond-centered coping strategies. The use of these strategies also varies depending on the age group of patients
and the type of laryngectomy they underwent.
