Abstract

This study aims to reveal the impact of the use of social networking sites on the family congruency of spouses. This study, which was implemented on a sample of spouses who use social media sites incorporated the descriptive-statistical method. The data of the research has been gathered by means of the questionnaire. In doing so, the research was organized into three axes. The first axis focused on the couples' practices of browsing on social networking sites. The second accounted for the couples' reasons for using these sites. In the third axis, we used Likert scale to find out the effect of the use of social networking on family congruency of couples. The study reached the following results. The category of females is more male than the category of users. In addition, the largest category are youths whose age ranges from 21 to 30. Most of the respondents use social networking from one hour to 3 hours at separate times using the smart phone, for the purpose of entertainment and leisure through various topics to satisfy their curiosity. Furthermore, most of the respondents see that social networking has positive effect, and also in helps them to deal with other social media users, and it may have not that negative effect which leads to disputes and disagreement.
