Abstract

This study aims at to know the use of social media, and this study conducted on 40 students at Hama Lakhder University. It starts from the main question: in what sense to be used social media for Students of at Hama Lakhder University? The problematic contains several questions: - What is the characteristics of socio-demographic for the bstudent? - What are the uses of social networking sites? - What are the gratifications achieved when using social networking sites? - What are the students' attitudes towards using social networking sites? In order to answer the questions of this descriptive study and to achieve its objectives, the descriptive survey method was crried out on, which is not satisfied in describing the phenomenon only, but rather by analyzing its characteristics and the factors affecting it, drawing its results and then generalizing them to the whole community. Among the most important results that we reached in this study: - The students surveyed use social networking sites (Facebook) continuously and for a long time - The duration of their use of social networking sites exceeds three hours a day, and the motives and gratifications of the students surveyed were limited, according to their answers, to entertainment and entertainment, as well as obtaining news and information and following up on events.
