Abstract

Graphic images are considered one of the chapters of the science of rhetoric, which is the science that is concerned with highlighting the manifestations of beauty and its place in speech. They make the literary work radiate with vitality and life. Poets and writers have been creative in their use of graphic images. Among these poets is Tamim Al-Barghouthi, who used his poetry to defend the Palestinian cause and convey The concerns of the Palestinian people. We chose the pragmatic analysis of graphic images in our study of TamimBarghouti’s poetry. There is a strong and close link between pragmatics and graphic images. Pragmatics means that the language will be circulated between two parties in different contexts. Each context has a specific meaning and is based on a number of theories, which is the theory of speech acts. by Austin, the theory of dialogic entailment by Paul Grice, the theory of argumentation, and Arabic rhetoric carries a deliberative dimension through the book Al-Bayan and Al-Tabyin by Al-Jahiz and the Secrets of Rhetoric and Evidence of Miracles by Abdul Qaher Al-Jurjani.
