Abstract

This study aims to highlight the phytoremediation system for treating wastewater for irrigating green spaces. In light of water resource scarcity and the impacts of climate change, it has become imperative to sustainably exploit all available resources. This necessitates exploring alternative local water sources, including groundwater and treated wastewater, to meet future demands. The study focuses on reducing pollutant levels in wastewater to produce water suitable for irrigating green belts. Consequently, the study seeks to answer the following question: Does recycling wastewater through phytoremediation make it suitable for irrigating green spaces? The findings indicate that plants have varying capabilities in removing pollutants, with Nerium oleander (oleander) demonstrating a significant ability to eliminate pollutants, achieving a removal rate of up to 80%. In conclusion, the reduction of pollutants emphasizes the importance of reusing wastewater through phytoremediation.
