The present study is designed to depict the tendency of mine workers to take risks by the help of a structural equation model proposed. For this purpose, a survey consisting of 15 statements was conducted on 150 workers selected randomly from a surface mine. First section of the study is the introduction. Second section gives a literature review. Third section presents the theoretical framework of the structural equation modelling (SEM), and the final section gives the results of the analysis. Results of the analysis indicate that negative affectivity, fatalistic approach and perception of the sufficiency of workplace safety have a significant effect on the tendency of mine workers to take risks. Upon the SEM, the finding that a one unit increase in negativeaffectivity results in an increase of 0.51 unit in the tendency of workers to take risks was found to be noteworthyen_US
