Abstract
The Carthaginian woman played an active role in building society and worked on
two levels: the private life in the home, where she was the wife, mother, and
educator, and the second, participation in religious and political matters. The
highest centers in the kingdom, including the rulers, queens, and wives of the king,
the most prominent of which are two figures, Elissa, the founder and Safonisbah,
as well as the wife of Hasdrubal. Her beauty, which is comparable to the beauty
of the Greeks, and she paid much attention to her external appearance, so she had
her own makeup and created many mixtures to take care of her skin, in addition
to that she took care of the appearance of her hair, so she distinguished various
hairstyles and differed according to each period of time in line with the fashion of
her era, and she was decorated with ornaments and jewelry such as earrings, rings
and bracelets.
