Abstract

The current study determines the relationship between US presidential election and the American Press. The media have become the main source of the candidates’ campaign activities. As well, New media have profoundly changed the way elections are contested, citizen participation and media coverage of campaigns. Many concerns are raised about media negative or positive contribution in US presidential elections. This study relies on two methods; historical and analytical methods that explore the formulated hypothesis. The primary objective of this research is to analyze the technical strategies of traditional and social media utilized by John Fitzgerald Kennedy, George Walker Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump to win the election. In addition, it analyses the candidates 's speeches, TV debates and tweets that contributed in persuading the voters in the electoral campaigns . Furthermore, it aims to shed light on the impact of media in the US presidential election and to clarify to what extent it helped candidates to win presidency. The findings reveal that the media had a positive role in US presidential election. Media platforms can be pivotal factor in fueling the desire of people to participate in voting. Free and fair elections play a key role in strengthening the pillar of democracy.
