dc.description.abstract | The essential oil of Marrubium deserti, colleted in the North fringe of the Algerian Sahara was obtained using hydrodistillation method by Clevenger apparatus. The yield of essential oil was 0.15%, the oil was analyzed by GC-MS. Fourty-one compounds were detected and 38 of them were identified, representing (99.94%) of the total oil. Tetracosane (31.11%), Germacrene D ﴾1..4%﴿, Δ- Cadinene (6.51%), α- Cadinol (6.26%) and t-Cadinol (5.81%) were identified as the main constituents. The antioxidant activity was determined using DPPH scavenging, the oil exhibited weak inhibition activity comparing with Vitamin C, where we showed the value of IC50= 2.37 ± 0.46mg/mL and 0.064 ± 0.01mg/mL, respectively. | en_US |
