dc.description.abstractThe essential oil of Marrubium deserti, colleted in the North fringe of the Algerian Sahara was obtained using hydrodistillation method by Clevenger apparatus. The yield of essential oil was 0.15%, the oil was analyzed by GC-MS. Fourty-one compounds were detected and 38 of them were identified, representing (99.94%) of the total oil. Tetracosane (31.11%), Germacrene D ﴾1..4%﴿, Δ- Cadinene (6.51%), α- Cadinol (6.26%) and t-Cadinol (5.81%) were identified as the main constituents. The antioxidant activity was determined using DPPH scavenging, the oil exhibited weak inhibition activity comparing with Vitamin C, where we showed the value of IC50= 2.37 ± 0.46mg/mL and 0.064 ± 0.01mg/mL, respectively.en_US
