This study aims to evaluate the experience of field use of volatile oils as a sustainable means of combating diseases and insect pests in agriculture, and through previous studies studied and in light of the spread of pests that affect tomato plants, where the most common method of reducing their activities is the use of chemical pesticides, which have effects Negative effects on the environment in general, and therefore many works have been carried out in order to search for the best biological alternative. For this reason, aromatic plants were used, especially their extracted oils, known since ancient times for their effectiveness in several fields, which have become a promising alternative as natural pesticides because they contain a variety of pesticides. Compounds: Our work reveals the effect of the natural pesticide extract of peppermint oil (Mentha Piperita), which belongs to the Salvia family and is known for its active action on some diseases and pests that affect the tomato plant (Lycopersicon esculentum) after it was sprayed on it for the purpose of biological control against the pests that affect it. . It was compared to the control plant treated with various chemicals in the open field. The results showed that volatile oils have a toxic effect on various insect pests of tomato plants, as the average infection at the leaf level was similar to treatment with chemicals (control, volatile oils, chemicals at 2.5%, 1.3%, 0.8%), respectively, in the first treatment. As for the second treatment (control, volatile oils, chemicals at a rate of 2.3%, 0.7%, 0.6%), respectively. The average infection on the fruits in the first treatment (control, volatile oils, and chemicals at a rate of 19%, 07%, 0.6%), while in the second treatment of the fruits (control, volatile oils, and chemicals at a rate of 34%, 14%, 13%). . From these results, we can say that peppermint oil extract has good biological activity in repelling insects.
