dc.description.abstractThe objective of this study is to compare the effect of four different sodium chloride (NaCl) concentration: (0, 3, 6, 9 (103 mg/l)) on seeds germination of two genotypes of durum wheat (Triticum durum Desf.): CIRTA and VITRON. Wheat seeds were germinated in petri dishes with sterile filter paper irrigated with 70 ml of test solution at 25 c˚ in dark. The obtained results showed that germination percentage, length and weight of root and stalk were decreased with the increase of the sodium chloride (NaCl) concentration in the growing media. Also, the results confirm the superiority of VITRON variety in most of the studied parameters, particularly the parameters of seed-germination indicators, and the two varieties showed varying responses according to the levels of salt stress in the germination stage. VITRON was more tolerant than CIRTA, which recorded the lowest salt tolerance index and highest relative salt injury rate.en_US
