Abstract

This studyaimed to identify the factors of pooracademicachievement in the subject of the French language for secondaryschoolstudents. In order to answer this question, the following sub-questions were relied upon: - Does the difficulty of the French language program contribute to the student's poor academic achievement in this subject? - Does the student's social environment contribute to poor academic achievement in the French language subject? - Does the teaching method of the French language teacher contribute to the poor academic achievement of the student in this subject? In this study, the descriptive approach was relied upon, and for data collection, we used the questionnaire, which included 24 items, divided into 4 axes, the first axis for personal data, and three axes that answer the study hypotheses. This field study was also conducted on a sample of 120 male and female students, depending on the simple random sample in some cases. El-Wadi secondary schools, and a number of results were reached, the most important of which are: - The difficulty of French grammar contributes to the low level of student achievement. The student's lack of understanding of the French language lessons contributes to the low level of his academic achievement in it. - The failure of the French language teacher to use auxiliary means of explanation during the lessons contributes to the low level of academic achievement of the student. The French teacher's use of the Arabic language while explaining lessons contributes to the low level of student achievement in it
