dc.description.abstractThe experiment was conducted in Debila area ،in the Wilaya of El-Oued, in the southern of Algeria, during the 2025 agricultural season. The soil was sandy, dry, and deficient in organic matter. The aim of the study was to evaluate the impact of adding a mixed fertilizer made from eggshells and orange peels on the physical and chemical properties of the soil planted with potato crops. Three treatments were tested in two replications: (control, mixed fertilizer at 4 kg, and poultry manure at 4 kg). The results showed that the addition of the mixed fertilizer improved several physical properties of the soil, such as increasing soil moisture content and field capacity (FC). In terms of chemical properties, the addition of the mixed fertilizer resulted in a significant increase in soil organic matter content. Additionally, there was a relative decrease in soil pH, and an increase in electrical conductivity (EC)and dissolved salts concentration . All of these properties positively affected the growth and yield of the potato crop, as evidenced by increased germination rates and prevention of root rot. This demonstrates the promising potential of this fertilizer as a low￾cost, readily available option for enhancing and sustaining agricultural practices.
