Abstract

Study Summary The environment, which includes living and non-living organisms, affects and is affected by environmental imbalances. This study is intended to identify the environmental culture and its role in protecting the rural environment from the problems caused by nature and human activities, As well as the contributions of the population in the face of these problems based on a questionnaire distributed to a sample of 70 individuals, where the answers to the questions of the study were obtained through field data and linked to the theoretical side to achieve integration between the classes. The study included the following main question : How does environmental culture contribute to the protection of the rural environment? Sub-questions : 1/ What is the concept of environmental culture among the population in the study area? 2/ What are the major environmental problems in the study area? What solutions have been taken to address them 3/ To what extent do residents of the region have an environmental culture to reduce environmental problems? The study was based on the ethnographic approach to study the environmental reality in the study society and the detection of practices that cause problems for the living environment, as well as the analytical descriptive method to describe the phenomenon and its interpretation. The researcher also used the direct observation and questionnaire of 28 questions. The study was conducted four months from January 2017 and reached the following results : - Contribution of environmental culture in the research community to develop solutions to environmental problems existing in the region according to the means and possibilities possessed by the population. - In addition to the awareness and interest of the population towards environmental problems through strong social relations and strong among the members of society. - Families are keen to preserve the environment, whether at home, school or - the community as a whole, with the aim of spreading environmental culture ‌among all groups of society.
