Abstract
In the last decade, the valley region in Algeria has become one of the most
important regions that have a competitive advantage for the production of
potatoes nationally. The region depends on the production of potatoes on
the nature of production factors (soil, fertilization, irrigation ...) in
particular and differentiated locally, making the yield of the crop different
and fluctuating from product to product and season to season, and perhaps
one of the most important factors affecting the productivity of potatoes in
the valley is salinity of irrigation water Especially in the areas irrigated by
the method of axial spray relative to the areas irrigated by the method of
distillation. This study aimed to assess the extent of the effect of the
irrigation method on the degree of influence of the salinity of irrigation
water on the potato yield in the valley based on a sample of 97 potato
products in the region during the fall season of 2020, and in order to test
the homogeneity of the effect of salinity between the areas irrigated by
spraying and the areas irrigated by distillation, we used the method
Regression analysis by adopting a logarithmic - linear function model to
estimate the salinity effect parameters between the two irrigation
methods, and then test the significance of the effect difference between
them. The results of the study model showed the negative effect of salinity
on productivity as well as the fundamental difference in the effect of
salinity between the two methods of sprinkler irrigation and distillation,
where the degree of productivity affected by salinity of irrigation water
was more severe in the areas irrigated by the method of spraying relative
to the areas irrigated by the method of distillation.
