يعتبر مجال تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات من أكثر المجالات التي تركت فيها الالكترونيات أثرا ملحوظا حيث أتاحت تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات العديد من الوسائط والوسائل التي ألغت الحدود الجغرافية وقربت المسافات وسهلت إمكانية الحصول على المعلومات من أي مكان، وتجميعها وتخزينها وبثها بشكل فوري متخطية قيود الوقت والمساحة ،وقد تجلت هذه المبتكرات في الأقمار الصناعية،الحاسبات الالكترونية،الاتصالات الرقمية،الاتصال المباشر بقواعد وشبكات المعلومات مثل الانترنت والتليفونات المحمولة والبريد الالكتروني وعقد المؤتمرات عن بعد، كما لبت تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات الكثير من رغبات الأفراد برفع مستويات الأفراد ومحو الأمية وأتاحت أقصى درجات السرعة في نقل المعلومات واستقبالها ،وقد سهلت العمليات الإنتاجية وزادت من سرعتها ورفعت مستوى الجودة، لكن رغم ما تمتعت به من مزايا وأثار ايجابية غيرت مسار حياة الإنسان إلا أنها لم تخلو من الكثير من الآثار السلبية التي أثرت في شتى مجالات ومناحي الحياة الاجتماعية والثقافية والاقتصادية وغيرها .
