Abstract

إن اللسانيات الحديثة تعكس فترة من فترات تطور الفكر اللغوي الإنسان، وقد درج مصنفوا المدارس اللسانية على التمييز بين فكر لساني قديم، وفكر لساني حديث مع العلم أن أغلبهم ينزع إلى إقصاء النتاج اللغوي القديم من مجال التفكير اللساني على اعتبار أن تاريخ اللسانيات الحق يبدأ مع القرن التاسع عشر بما اصطلح على تسميته باللسانيات التاريخية أو اللسانيات المقارنة. يقوم الاتجاه الوظيفي على مفهوم الوظيفية ومنه جاءت تسميته، إذ إنّ الباحث هو الذي يسعى إلى الكشف عن القطع الصوتية التي تؤدي وظيفة داخل التركيب أي أنه يبحث عن الوحدات التي يمكنها تغيير المعنى كلما استبدلت بأخرى فتغير مدى الوحدات اللغوية دليل على أن لها وظيفة. وعليه فإن المعنى والوظيفة هما جوهر اهتمامات المدرسة الوظيفية.
