Abstract

Abstract:After the fall of France to Germany in June 1940 , and the establishment of the pro-Nazi Vichy government, Algeria entered a pivotal stage in its history , through the change of the new direction of French power, where France initially tried to pursue a policy of appeasement with the people and leaders of the national movement and win them to its side such as Masali El Hadj and Farhat Abbas. It then imposed arbitrary policies against Algerians for fear of losing an important part of its two colonial empires. It is noted at this period that Algeria was the site of a propaganda conflict between the axis and allied forces , in an attempt by each side to win the friendliness of the Algerians and to include them on one side of the Second World War , but the positions of the Algerians were different from this situation , regardless of their different orientations. The Mediterranean region has become an important strategic option for the conflicting forces, especially after the U. S. A. entered the scene of events. The Allied forces organized the (torch) landing operation in 1942 , after which the Vichy phase ended in Algeria. After that, the Algerian national movement entered a new period of development of demands.
