Abstract

The press is the window through which the public looks at the events and issues that concern them, whether they are national or international, From this standpoint, we carried out this study to find out how Al-Shorouk News channel dealt with social issues, especially drugs scourge, through its main news, in addition to the way in which those in charge of the news dealt with that issue, and we worked through this analytical study to know the goals and directions of the news and how the treatment was carried out. . During this study, we decided to rely on a systematic plan divided into three main chapters: The methodological side, the theoretical side, the applied side, the methodological side in which we dealt with presenting a problem about the topic of the study, the importance and objectives of the study and the type of sample that was chosen, in addition to the method used in the study, data collection tools, the research community, the limits of the study, the most important terms and concepts of the study, and finally We have touched on four previous studies on the topic of treatment, as we think they are similar to our topic and agree with it in several points, and we completed this chapter with the theoretical approach that serves us in our study. As for the second chapter, we devoted it to the theoretical side, in which we dealt with the definition of the news, its types, and the most important press templates in which its news was edited, in addition to a historical overview of the private channels in Algeria, the factors of their emergence and the most important stages that they went through, and a sample of the private channels in our country, which we discussed in more detail. About Al-Shorouk TV and Al-Shorouk News, the topic of the study, and at the end a summary of the chapter. As for the third chapter, we dealt with the applied side of the study, starting with a technical card for Al-Shorouk News channel, so we subjected the sample to the applied study in all aspects, and we obtained very impressive results on how Al-Shorouk News dealt with the scourge of drugs in its main publications during the first quarter of the year 2023 in 22 tables and diagrams which represent the various categories subject to the study, whether categories of form or categories of content, and we also obtained the results of the study and made recommendations that may benefit others in the future. At the end of this study, we put an appendix showing the content analysis form on which we relied in our analysis and study, in addition to procedural definitions for the various categories, an index of sources and references, pictures of Al-Shorouk channel, and some of the arrests that we studied during our treatment of various drug smugglers and promoters
