Item DECADAL ANALYSIS OF TEMPORAL VARIABILITY IN RAINFALL TRENDS IN OGBOMOSO(university of eloued -جامعة الوادي, 2022-09-01) OlasunkanmiSuleman, Kamaldeen; LukmanAyobami, Sunmonu2; George, AtiladeÀlàgbé; Akeem, LawalSheu; Suliat, KemiRasaqTen-year (2009-2018) monthly rainfall data was obtained from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET). The data was processed and analysed using OriginPro 8.5 software. Statistical tools such as standard deviation and Coefficient of Variation (CV) were used for data presentation while analyses were done using the Mann-Kendall and Sen’s slope of linear regression to examine variations across the months and years. Results revealed higher values around July and September while lower values were recorded around December and January. Seasonal variability shows a remarkable increasing trend with theexception of post-wet which recorded an insignificant downward trend. TheMann-Kendall and Sen’sslope estimator analyses revealedboth downward and upward trendsin rainfall the study period and the changes are strongly marked for certain years and less for others. This result would contribute significantly to the effective management and sustainable development of the social economic activities which are heavily rain-dependent, within the study areaItem EFFECT ON MORPHOLOGICAL(university of eloued جامعة الوادي, 2022-09-01) Djamel Eddine, Hamza1,; Leila, Lamiri2,3; Assia, Tounsi3,; Amor, AAzizi1,; , Alam Saeed4 MohammadCadmium Sulphide thin films have been successfully electrodeposited on a conducting Indium-Tin-Oxide (ITO) glass substrate, with different deposition time (10 min, 20 min, and 30 min). The Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-Vis spectrophotometry, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Atomic force microscopy (AFM) were used to characterize the morphological of films obtained. Moreover, Mott–Schottky (MS) measurements and Photoelectrochemical (PEC) measurements were carried out to study their structural, optical and electrical properties respectively. XRD result points to high crystallinity oriented along (002) planes. The studies reveal that the optical transmission increases with decreasing time of deposition. Mott-Schottky and Photoelectrochemical studies indicates that the CdS thin films display n-type semiconductor, which allows used as layer in photovoltaic cell applications.Item EVALUATION OF THE CHEMICAL AND BACTERIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS OF WELL AND BOREHOLE WATERS IN THE CITY OF NATITINGOU IN THE NORTH WEST OF BENIN(university of eloued -جامعة الوادي, 2022-09-01) Tossou, Evariste; Waris, Kéwouyèmi Chout; Sèmiyou, OsseniThe general objective of this research is to study the physico-chemical and bacteriological quality of the water supply sources in the Municipality of Natitingou.The methodological approach adopted revolves around the collection of data on sources of drinking water supply, water sampling, socio-anthropogenic data. The analysis of the results shows that water resources are not very diversified and are limited to rainwater and groundwater. The factors that explain the bacteriological pollution of these waters are linked to the conditions of transport and storage of water, the environment, the almost total absence of a wastewater management system and the behavior of the population. This lectin was named GVL, agglutinated rat, rabbit, goat, chicken and human ABO erythrocytes.The antibacterial activity of this algal lectin was studied using disc diffusion method. GVLexhibited potent antibacterial activity against bacteria such as E.coli,S.pyogenes,S.aureus,E.faecalis,B.subtilisandcoagulase-negative Staphylococci(CoNS)by disc-diffusion method.Also,the results were compared with standard antibiotic Ampicillin. Various components of the orange oil were characterized by FTIR, UV-Vis and GC-MS spectroscopic techniques. The extracted essential oil was conformed to AFNORstandards, and had a maximum yield of 3.4% (w/w). The obtained results showed thatlimonene was the major bioactive components of the orange essential oil (97.14%). Theessential orange oil and its dilutions in DMSO showed an excellent antibacterial activityagainst Staphylococcus aureus (gram-positivebacteria) with a diameter of inhibitionzonesuperior to 40 mm. Osadeb; Davis, Ibiso; Davis, Ibiso W; Ogugbue, Chimezie J; Gideon C, OkpokwasiliThisstudy adopted an ecosystem services approach to pollution management by investigating the impact of biochar-mediated remediation on soil nitrogen, abundance of nitrogen cycling bacteria and the activity of ammonia monooxygenase (AMO) enzyme in petroleum-polluted soil using two biochar types applied at two treatment levels with monitoring over 15 weeks. The corn cob-derived biochar (CDB), generally, had a stronger restorative effect on soil ammonium nitrogen,nitrate and total organic nitrogenconcentrations than the bone-derived biochar (BDB). Both biochar types had a more robust impact on restoration of Nitrosomonas, Nitrobacterand Azotobacterabundance (with the re-establishment of pre-pollution levels) than on Rhizobiumand Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Biochar amendment restored the activity of AMO enzyme in the soil by week 15. The CDB (72.4% –73.7%) showed more effective total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) elimination capacity than the BDB (51.1% –57.7%).Biochar amendments exhibited great potential for restoration of nitrogen The average percentage scores of all food handlers for knowledge, attitudes, andpractices were 63.78%, 83.63% and 81%, respectively.For the 13 participants who received theintervention, a significant improvement was observed in their performance after the training (p˂0.001)
