Item STRUCTURAL AND HYDROCHEMICAL ASSESSMENT OF SOME ARTESIAN SPRINGS WITHIN SHARE SHEET 202 SOUTHWESTERN NIGERIA(university of eloued جامعة الوادي, 2023-09) Folorunso 1, Ismail Oluwaseye; Abubakar, Hussain; Olawumi, Hakeem Bolaji2The inhabitants of the study area have been faced with scarcity of clean water and sometimes suffer an outbreak of epidemics; the studied artesian springs are their major alternative source of water. Ten artesian springs were assessed using magnetic methods, and hydrochemical analysis. Total magnetic intensity data were processed to obtain the lineament distribution responsible for groundwater flow. Physicochemical parameters analyzed include pH, total hardness, electrical conductivity, and chemical parameters were analyzed. Results showed a magnetic anomaly range of -79.1 - 132.9 nT. There is a series of lineaments, depicting fractures with a high concentration in the northern part. Three of the springs fall on Martins multiple fracture locations, around the high magnetic anomaly, indicating a highly promising location. The range of parameters are as follow; pH: 5.91 – 7.09, electrical conductivity: 30 - 450 μs/cm, total hardness: 20 - 136 mg/L, chloride: 10.01 - 56.0 mg/L. All these are within the World Water Quality Standard tolerable values, with exception of the iron content that is above 1 in all the locations, which falls above the permissible standards of 0.3. This could be associated with the contaminations from open defecations practiced in the area.Item CONFORMATIONAL ANALYSIS AND STEREOCHEMICAL CONTROL IN MACROLIDES BY MOLECULAR MECHANICS AND BOLTZMANN DISTRIBUTION(university of eloued جامعة الوادي, 2023-09) Fatima, Daissa; , Belaidi Salah; Touhami, LanezThe Conformational analysis and stereochemical control of 20 Membered Macrolides were investigated using molecular mechanics calculations, PM3 semi empirical method, and Boltzmann distribution. The results indicate that these macrocycles have a high degree of conformational flexibility. However, in the presence of tricarbonyliron, the number of favorable conformations was reduced to only four. The study also revealed significant diastereoselectivity (73:27) in B type complexed macrolides. Furthermore, it wa s observed that the methyl group in position α 2 had a local conformational effect that increased the diastereoselectivity of alkylation reactions. The high diastereoselectivity observed was attributed to the combination of stereochemical remote control wit h Fe(CO) 3 and local control by the methyl groupItem ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF BRYOPHYLLUM PINNATUM LEAVES EXTRACT AGAINST STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS AND ESCHERICHIA COLI(university of eloued جامعة الوادي, 2023-09) Yarma, Ahmed Adamu,; Mustapha, S.H.,; Lawal; Muhammed, Tukur AdamuPathogenic microorganisms cause several infections of great public concern. These pathogens from many studies were found to be resistant to many antibiotics. Thus, there is the need for new antimicrobial agents of plant origin to overcome the problem of resistance. The aim of this study was to screen the antibacterial activity of aqueous leave extract of Bryophyllum pinnatun. The aqueous leave extract of the B. pinnatun prepared by percolation method was investigated for phytochemical constituents and activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli using agar well diffusion method. The phytochemicals detected in the extract include saponins, tannins, alkaloids and flavonoids. The extract was found to be active on both the organisms with zone of inhibition ranging from 8-19mm for S. aureus and 7-16mm for E. coli. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) were found to be higher at 50mg/ml and 100mg/ml, respectively. This study shows that leaf extract of B. pinnatum have antibacterial properties, and effective on both Gram positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Therefore, this result supports the traditional use of the B. pinnatum leaves in infection treatment.Item INFLUENCE OF TEMPERATURE ON THE PERFORMANCE OF A COMMERCIAL SOLAR BATTERY USED IN NIAMEY, NIGER(university of eloued جامعة الوادي, 2023-12) Abourahamane, Saidou Boulhassane1; Abdoul Razak 1, Boukari Oussoumane; Abdoulkadri, Ayouba Mahamane*; Moutari, Souley Kallo2; Hassane, Adamou Hassane; Rabani, Adamou1This work aimed to assess the influence of temperature on the performance parameters of a commercial solar battery used in the city of Niamey in Niger. After an investigation, a sealed lead acid battery (VRLA-AGM, 12 V-80 Ah) was subjected to various tests. Based on the meteorological data of one year from the city of Niamey, experiments were carried out at different temperatures (17 °C, 30 °C and 42 °C). The experimental results showed that the battery capacity, discharge time, charge time and gassing rate are relatively large at high temperature (42 °C). However, the battery internal resistance is relatively high at low temperature (17 °C). Relatively better performance was obtained at the temperature of 30 °C.
