    توفر التجارة الالكترونية للمستهلك كل ما يحتاجه بسرعة وسهولة وأقل تكلفة فأصبحت طريقة التسوق المثلى في الدول المتقدمة، وقد تطورت طرق الدفع من تلك التقليدية المعروفة منذ القدم كالدفع نقدا والشيك إلى طرق دفع الكترونية أكثر ملائمة لطبيعة التجارة الالكترونية كالنقود الالكترونية والشيكات والمحافظ الالكترونية، لتكمل هذا النوع من التجارة وتجعله أكثر ملائمة وطبيعة الاقتصاد الرقمي. إلا أن التطور التكنولوجي كما خلق تجارة الكترونية أدى إلى ظهور نوع جديد من الجرائم أكثر خطورة من الجرائم العادية، وهي الجرائم الالكترونية لصعوبة اكتشاف الجناة فيها والافتقار للدليل المادي لأنها تتم عن بعد باستخدام أجهزة الإعلام الآلي والشبكات الالكترونية، وقد تفنن القراصنة في هذا النوع من الجرائم وهدفهم دائما الاستيلاء على أموال الغير بسهولة، والمتسوق الالكتروني هو الضحية.
