Abstract

The course "Modeling and Simulation of Electrical Machines" provides an extensive framework for developing mathematical models and simulating the behavior of electrical machines under various operating conditions. The course highlights the critical role of modeling and simulation in analyzing, optimizing, and understanding machine dynamics. It begins with General Modeling of Electrical Machines, introducing magnetic circuits, field and flux relationships, magnetomotive force (MMF), inductance, and mutual coupling as fundamental concepts. The module on Modeling Machines for Dynamic State focuses on deriving mathematical models to study transient and steady-state behaviors. The course also explores Modeling and Simulation of Direct Current Machines, emphasizing their electrical, magnetic, and mechanical models. Additionally, the Modeling and Simulation of Synchronous Machines includes Park and Clarke transformations to simplify three-phase systems into d-q models for dynamic and steady-state analysis. Similarly, the Modeling and Simulation of Induction Machines applies Park and Clarke transformations to derive mathematical models that analyze electrical, magnetic, and mechanical interactions. By integrating theoretical concepts with practical simulation techniques, this course equips students with the skills to model, simulate, and understand the behavior of electrical machines, preparing them for advanced research and real-world engineering challenges
