Abstract

health problem not only for the Righ Valley، but also for Algeria and for all developing countries. The results of our study for the period 2003 to 2015 show a record 10،847 confirmed cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis، and details show that this disease targets all municipalities and all age groups from the newborn to the elderly. The most affected group are adolescents aged between 10 and 19 was 3669 cases (33.86%)، and infants under 9 years with 2826 cases (26.07%). In addition، the study found that males were more exposure to the disease than females (62% and 38%، respectively). Of the 8 municipalities in the Righ Valley، the most affected were a Djamaa with a total of 4279 cases (IR = 606.96)، followed by El-Meghier with 3168 cases (IR = 462.42). In addition، the highest rate of infection (IR) up to 1017.42 of the total cases (10847 cases) reported in one year only in 2011. The effective fight against this disease should be based on the elimination of the vectors and reservoirs populations، by the overall improvement of sanitary conditions and hygiene، extensive research in epidemiology of leishmaniasis could also reduce the incidence of cutaneous leishmaniasis.
