dc.description.abstractThe aim of this note is to study the possibility of using palm waste (flower pericarp) as a low-cost adsorbent for the adsorption of methylene blue from aqueous solutions. The physicochemical properties of the adsorbent were studied using XRD, FTIR and SEM/EDX. The factors affecting the adsorption yield were also studied, and they are as follows: The mass of the adsorbent (50-150 mg), the pH of the medium (4-10) and the contact time (15-105 minutes) to determine the optimal conditions for adsorption. By using BBD surface response modeling, a yield of 96.31% was reached under the conditions: coating mass 116.667 mg, media pH 7.4 and contact time of 30 minutes. The results of the isothermal modeling showed that the Toth model was more suitable with a regression coefficient of R2=1, and the maximum adsorbent quantity was 174.62 mg/g according to the Longmire model, while the kinetic modeling follows the quasi-second order model with a regression coefficient of 0.94. The thermal study showed that adsorption was spontaneously exothermic given the negative enthalpy value. We also dealt with the study of reverse adsorption, which aims to reuse the coating several times to remove the methylene blue dye, where we studied the factors affecting the volume of the NaOH separation agent (10-100 ml), the diffusion time (1-6 hours) and the shaking speed (50-450 cycle/d) to determine the optimal conditions for the highest dye removal yield from the epidermis. The optimal values that gave the best removal yield of 46.88% were reached by using the best mass of the coating containing MB dye of 105 mg, in a time of 6 hours, at a shaking speed of 437.6 rpm, and a volume of 10.66 ml. And through the results of germination, which aims to find out the possibility of using treated water for irrigation purposes, where the effect of treated water was studied on the germination and growth of durum wheat seedlings of VITRON variety, through sterilized petri dishes, and they were treated with two concentrations of MB 5 mg / l (treated) and 100 mg / l (treated) l (contaminated) with control treatment, and this was done in dark conditions and the temperature was 1±25°C. Germination percentage GP%, length and weight of seedlings showed the toxicity of methylene blue dye and the possibility of watering with treated water using low concentration of methylene blue.en_US
