Abstract
In the last decades, a lot of different seismic semi-active control algorithms
have been proposed, which are generally based on traditional control applications.
In this paper we develop a new control algorithm for multi degree of freedom
MDOF structures based in Linear quadratic regulator control optimized
by Particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. This algorithm uses
LQR’s direct approach for stability analysis in design of feedback controller.
The PSO algorithm provides the optimal parameters of Linear quadratic
regulator function candidate, which minimize the evaluation criteria function
of the states of the system. Numerical simulations using three story frame
structure modeled as shear building structure subjected to earthquake excitations
have been performed to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
