Abstract

This study explores the role of the Environmental Management System (EMS) as a mechanism for achieving sustainable environmental performance in economic institutions. It examines the experience of BAKKAR TP, a company specializing in producing concrete electric poles in the state of El Wadi, highlighting its efforts to adopt responsible environmental behaviors and enhance its environmental performance through EMS implementation. BAKKAR TP achieved ISO 9001 certification in 2015 and is actively working towards obtaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications, with plans to pursue ISO 17025 certification for its laboratories as part of its future objectives. By adopting a descriptive-analytical approach, the study concludes that the EMS is a foundational requirement for fostering environmentally responsible behavior within economic organizations. Furthermore, it demonstrates that BAKKAR TP's commitment to EMS implementation and sustainable practices has significantly enhanced its environmental performance.
