Abstract

The importance of this study comes in an attempt to build a model to study how the tourism sector contributes to the achievement of economic diversification (2020-1999). The study was approached through a theoretical aspect where various economic diversification and tourism concepts were presented along with the analysis of some of its indicators in order to know its most important components and the requirements for its evolution as an alternative to the diversification. We concluded that the lack of effective exploitation of the tourist potential does not allow the advancement of this sector in Algeria; the tourism sector with its various tourist activities has not yet reached the point of achievement of economic diversification. Also, there is a negative impact of the tourism sector on economic diversification in Algeria which confirms that the contribution of the tourism sector to economic diversification remains far from the required level.
