Abstract

Brucellosis is one of the infectious bacterial diseases common between human and animal, which remains a public health problem not only for the El-Oued province, but also for Algeria and all the developing countries. For the period from 1993 to 2016, 1595 confirmed cases of human brucellosis were recorded in El-Oued province. The details show that the disease targeted all municipalities and all age groups, and distributed on all months and years. The most affected group is people between the ages of 20 and 44 years with 719 cases (45.07%) and adolescents between the ages of 10 and 19 by 329 cases (20.62%). In addition, the study showed that males were more exposure to the disease than females (59.93 % and 40.06% respectively). Also, the study found that the highest percentage of human brucellosis was recorded in the municipality of Ben Guecha by a value of 65.35 per 100,000 people, followed by Still municipality with a value of 51.97. Many factors that help to spread this disease, the most important of which is the consumption of non-pasteurized milk and its derivatives. So, the fight against this disease in humans depends mainly on its control in the animal.
