The most economical way to obtain drinking water is solar distillation using free, renewable and non-polluting energy. Improvement of the single-slope solar distiller is a problem addressed by several researchers around the world. This study also aims at this point by the variation of the thickness of the glass (the condenser). Experiments show that the production is better improved when the thickness of the glazing is low e = 3 mm with a total production of 2313.2 ml /m2.d; when e = 5 mm the production is 1876 ml / m2.d and at the end when e = 6 mm the production is 1236 ml / m2.d. From these results can be said that any increase in thickness will be followed by a decrease in the productivity of distilled water.Item Experimental study of solar chimney power plant(University of Eloued, 2019-02-24) Haythem Nasraoui; Zied Driss; Hedi KchaouSolar chimney power plants are passive thermal systems that use greenhouse effect to produce electricity from the solar radiations. The performance of these devices vary from one climate to another. Indeed, the building site of the SCPP is a special parameter for its total effectiveness. The aim of this work was to present an experimental investigation of a solar chimney prototype under the climatic conditions of Sfax, Tunisia. In fact, Sfax is characterized by its arid and sunny climate. The impact of the climatic conditions of Sfax city on the aero-thermal characteristics of the considered prototype is carried out. Using this tool, this work involves testing the effect of inlet opening number to follow it impact on the temperature distribution. This numerical study was developed using ANSYS Fluent 17 . The following is a finite element Stokes flow simulation of a Newtonian fluids through an advanced nanoporous material which is the Silica Aerogel. This type of non conventional pore scale modeling with COMSOL Multiphysics sheds new light on the movement of large particulates and colloids moving through the nanoporous geometries.
