    Trade and British Imperialism: The Role of the East India Company in Colonizing India

    The colonization of India by the British Empire stands as an important topic in the annals of the colonial history. This study examines the role of the British East India Company as an imperial body in colonizing the Indian subcontinent from the 16th to the 19th centuries. This research adopts the historical analysis methodology in which there is the use of descriptive and analytical methods. The main aim of the dissertation is to relate the East India Company's establishment in 1600 as a trading imperial company and the military forced colonization of India in 1858. The findings confirmed the strong correlation between that corporation and the direct British colonization of the Indian subcontinent specifically after the company's shift to an imperial body. In doing so, The East India Company’s policies were imposed to impact India economically, militarily, politically, and culturally in an indirect way. Addressing the Western imperial strategies sheds light on the historical and the contemporary power dynamics in addition to adding valuable knowledge to the field. إن استعمار الهند من خلال شركة الهند الشرقية (EIC) يمثل موضوعًا مهمًا في سجلات التاريخ الاستعماري. تبحث هذه الدراسة في دور هذه الشركة كمؤسسة امبريالية في استعمار شبه القارة الهندية من القرن السادس عشر إلى القرن التاسع عشر.يعتمد هذا البحث على منهجية التحليل التاريخي من خلال استخدام الأساليب الوصفية والتحليلية للمعلومات التاريخية. الهدف الرئيسي من الأطروحة هو تأكيد العلاقة بين الشركة المذكورة و الاستعمار العسكري القسري للهند في 1858 على وجه التحديد بعد تحول هذه الشركة التجارية الى كيان امبريالي استعماري بشكل غير مباشر،حيث تم فرض سياسات للتأثير على الهند اقتصاديًا، عسكريًا، سياسيًا ،وثقافيًا بطريقة غير مباشرة. ان مناقشة و تسليط الضوء على الاستراتيجيات الامبريالية التي يستخدمها الغرب يشرح بشكل واضح ديناميكيات القوة التاريخية والمعاصرة و يضيف معرفة قيمة إلى هذا الميدان.
