Item Algerian Teachers' Perception Towards The Effectiveness Of Implementing Language-based Approach To Enhance Literary Competence Of Efl Students(جامعة الوادي - University of Eloued, 2022-12-31) Kired, Samir; Sadoune, FaridaAbstract: Adopting a suitable approach to teaching literary texts in the EFL classroom promotes the students' literary competence and interpretative capabilities. Among several approaches used in teaching literature is the Language-Based Approach, which aims to familiarise the students with the literary language. The present research attempts to investigate the perception of Algerian teachers towards the effectiveness of implementing a language-based approach to enhancing the literary competence of English as a foreign language (EFL) students. To achieve the research objective, qualitative and quantitative methods are used. The data are primarily collected through a questionnaire emailed to literature teachers from universities across the country and semi-structured interviews as a secondary data gathering tool. The results of the study indicated that Algerian EFL literature teachers have a positive perception of the efficiency of the language-based approach in improving the literary competency of the EFL students. The study recommends that literature teachers adopt language-oriented methods in teaching undergraduate students to develop their proficiency in studying literary texts. ملخص: إن اعتماد المقاربة المناسبة في تدريس النصوص الأدبية لطلاب اللغة الإنجليزية كلغة أجنبية يعزز من كفاءتهم في الأدب وقدراتهم في التحليل والتفسير. ومن بين المقاربات المستخدمة في تدريس الأدب الإنجليزي النهج القائم على اللغة والذي يهدف أساسا لتعويد الطلاب على نمط اللغة الأدبية. يهدف هذا البحث إلى لتسليط الضوء على وجهة نظر أساتذة الأدب الإنجليزي في الجزائر تجاه فعالية النهج المبني على اللغة في تحسين الكفاءة الأدبية لطلاب اللغة الإنجليزية. يستخدم الباحث في هذه الدراسة الأساليب الكيفية والكمية من متمثلا في استبيان ومقابلة مع أستاذة الأدب الإنجليزي حول جامعات مختلفة في ربوع الوطن. أظهرت نتائج البحث أن مدرسي الأدب الإنجليزي في الجزائر لديهم تصور إيجابي تجاه فعالية النهج القائم على اللغة في تحسين وتعزيز الكفاءة الأدبية للطلبة. تقترح نتائج البحث على أساتذة الأدب الإنجليزي تبني طرق مبنية على اللغة في تدريس الادب لطلبة الليسانس من أجل تطوير قدراتهم في دراسة النصوص الأدبية. Résumé L'adoption d'une approche appropriée pour l'enseignement des textes littéraires dans la classe EFL favorise la compétence littéraire et les capacités d'interprétation des élèves. Parmi plusieurs approches utilisées dans l'enseignement de la littérature, il y a l'approche basée sur la langue, qui vise à familiariser les élèves avec la langue littéraire. La présente recherche tente d'étudier la perception des enseignants algériens quant à l'efficacité de la mise en œuvre d'une approche basée sur la langue pour améliorer la compétence littéraire des étudiants en anglais comme langue étrangère (EFL). Pour atteindre l'objectif de la recherche, des méthodes qualitatives et quantitatives sont utilisées. Les données sont principalement recueillies au moyen d'un questionnaire envoyé par courriel aux professeurs de littérature des universités de tout le pays et d'entrevues semi-structurées comme outil secondaire de collecte de données. Les résultats de l'étude ont indiqué que les enseignants algériens de littérature EFL ont une perception positive de l'efficacité de l'approche basée sur la langue dans l'amélioration des compétences littéraires des étudiants EFL. L'étude recommande que les professeurs de littérature adoptent des méthodes axées sur la langue dans l'enseignement aux étudiants de premier cycle pour développer leur compétence dans l'étude de textes littéraires.Item The Role of Technology in Orienting U.S. Foreign Relations: U.S.-Chinese Technological Competition between Trade War and Global Dominance(university of El-Oued, 2020-10) Salhi, Bedda, Imad Abdelkader; Kired, SamirBy the turn of the century, the impacts of technology on international affairs and foreign policy, especially those of manufacturing technologies, are pervasive through transforming power among nations. Correspondingly, as for the United States, technological supremacy has always been a priority in conducting both homeland and foreign policies to preserve its status as the sole superpower. However, the use of this tool has become more complicated in the face of growing nations such as China. The present research attempts to investigate the role played by high technology in shaping the U.S. foreign relations towards attaining its national interests. In connection with the U.S-China relations, the substantial development of China's technological competency, notably in wireless networking (5G), has entirely shifted their relations to open geopolitical conflict. This study sheds light on the technological race as a new dimension of U.S. foreign affairs to determine whether this struggle is a trade war or a rivalry towards global dominance. To fulfil these objectives, a combination of the descriptive-analytical method and case study approach is used, which includes some numerical data converted into graphs to express the phenomenon under investigation by both quantitatively and qualitatively. Such methods are adopted to provide rounded, detailed illustrations of the factors that affect U.S. foreign relations. The results show that the technological advancement is a pivotal instrument in maintaining the U.S. global hegemony and emerging China as an independent technology polar puts the American domination in critical condition. The study concludes that the U.S. government uses political, economic, and diplomatic measures against Chinese firms such as Huawei to protect its technological superiority.
