The Region of Touat is one of the regions, which are well located in the Algerian southwest. In the course of history, such regions shaped the point of access amongst various cultures, and they played a major role in the scientific Communication between different Muslim towns and civilizations. In the beginning, it was an important access point of trade caravans coming from North and South, and the center of meeting of pilgrims. Later, through the course of time, such trade movement became accompanied with a scientific movement presented by the scientists who came with merchants and who were interested in spreading knowledge in various regions of the Great Sahara Desert. Touat region thereby became a meeting place for ascetics, guides and scientists, and, thus, a scientific metropolis well known around the world, the fact which effected the local scientific movements positively. It thus became influenced by surrounding cultures and influenced them as well when its Sheikhs moved to them to contribute in spreading various sciences and information.
