Abstract

The COVID-19 vaccine and since its appearance and availability, it has raised a large wave of controversy, thus, the world population has begun to question its safety, its nature and its effectiveness following which a large number individuals have decided not to want to be vaccinated. In addition, a large number of studies have been launched with the aim of restoring public confidence in the anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. These studies have concerned, in particular, the effectiveness of these vaccines, the main causes of hesitation to get vaccinated in order to find possible remedies. Our study is part of this framework, so we carried out a survey study based on two types of questionnaire: the first was to study attitudes and behaviors of vaccination against Covid-19 (directed at vaccinated individuals) and the second aimed to study the main reasons for hesitancy towards vaccination against COVID-19. Thus the analyzes of the data collected were able to show that: 41.23% of vaccinated individuals had a history of COVID-19, which played a positive role in encouraging people to be vaccinated. Although there is a high rate of individuals who have already been immunized against COVID-19 (41.23%) while almost 1/3 (28.86%) of vaccinated individuals have been reinfected again. Adverse effects of vaccines that have been reported are: fever (51.54% of cases), pain and swelling at the injection site (21.64%), rash (2.06%) and onset pimples accompanied by body itching sensations (1.03%). In addition, the vaccine brands that are in use in Algeria are: AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Sputnik-V, Sinovac and Jonssen, while the brand most used in the wilaya of EL Oued during the study period was Sinovac. On the other hand, the hesitation of vaccination is mainly due to the two main reasons: the mistrust of the public towards these vaccines 73.4% and the phobia against the injections and in particular if it is about the vaccine (14.89% ).
