Although some studies have investigated its general phytochemical composition, the plant's resin extracted from the inflorescences has not been sufficiently explored from a biological perspective. This study aims to evaluate the biological activity of the resin extracted from the inflorescences of Atractylis flava, using a series of in vitro and in vivo assays. The resin was extracted with 97% ethanol following an initial maceration in an alkaline aqueous medium (pH = 10). The results revealed weak antioxidant activity (DPPH: IC₅₀ = 0.624 mg/ml) and moderate anti-inflammatory activity (BSA: IC₅₀ = 1.156 mg/ml). In contrast, the resin exhibited a notable analgesic effect (Hot Plate: 24.54 s; Writhing test: significant reduction in abdominal writhes), as well as a promising antidepressant effect (TST: 277.18 s; FST: 269.68 s), and a gastro protective effect, with an ulcer inhibition rate of 64.85%. These findings highlight the resin’s promising biological value and support its potential as a natural source for developing safe and effective therapeutic alternatives.en-USResinAtractylis flava Desf.
