The genre appeared as an ideologically mature endeavor that reflects the Omani society in its transition towards modernity and the entailing effects of such change on Omani people. The paper analyses two novels: Alashyae Laysat Fi Amakiniha (Things are not in their Places) by Huda Hamad and Sayidat Al-qamar (Celestial Bodies) by Jokha Al-Harthi in reference to key concepts introduced in the field of sociology of literature particularly genetic structuralism.
