It is recognized that the United States of America fulfills all these requirements and that it is an exceptional country. American exceptionalism is a term that defines the United States of America as a nation different from the rest of the world, which is distinguished by the mission of world leadership and takes upon itself the responsibility of spreading democracy and freedom around the world. The term was first created by the French writer Alexis de Tocqueville in 1835. This present dissertation is intended to examine the concept of American Exceptionalism, explain the impact of the American exceptionalism on the United States foreign policy and verify the credibility of the American exceptionalism during the war in Afghanistan under the title «AmericanExceptionalisminForeignPolicybetweenMythandReality».The present study utilizes the qualitative approach that employs the descriptive analytical and historical method. The study findings revealed the myth of American exceptionalism as a consequence of the failure of the American war in Afghanistan.
