The study was approached through a theoretical aspect where various economic diversification and tourism concepts were presented along with the analysis of some of its indicators in order to know its most important components and the requirements for its evolution as an alternative to the diversification. We concluded that the lack of effective exploitation of the tourist potential does not allow the advancement of this sector in Algeria; the tourism sector with its various tourist activities has not yet reached the point of achievement of economic diversification.
